Our approach to your data
In this policy, “we” and “us” mean the publisher of DZX STUDIO, the Mac IDE for ZX Spectrum 48K and 128K. This policy covers this product website and the application, not the separate websites or services linked from them.
We do not collect, receive or store user data from the DZX STUDIO application. Your projects, source code, graphics, music, prompts and API credentials are not sent to the DZX STUDIO publisher. We do not operate a user-data backend, user accounts, usage analytics or advertising tracking for the IDE.
This does not mean that no data is processed anywhere. Your Mac handles local files, the website’s hosting infrastructure handles web requests, and an optional AI service processes the information you send to it. These are separate data flows, explained below.
What stays on your Mac
Editing, compilation, graphics, music and the integrated Spectrum runtime work locally. Projects and exports are saved in the locations you choose. Preferences, recent-project information and other local application state are kept on your Mac, not in a DZX STUDIO cloud account.
Provider API keys are stored in the local macOS Keychain, separately from project files. A key is used to authenticate requests to its provider, not sent to the DZX STUDIO publisher. Account sessions used by an external AI runtime have that runtime’s own storage arrangements.
Your own backup or synchronisation services, such as iCloud Drive, may copy files placed in their folders. Their practices are separate from DZX STUDIO.
Website hosting and technical requests
This website does not ask you to register, submit projects, subscribe to a mailing list or provide payment details. We do not add visitor-profiling, advertising or audience-analytics tools. Documentation search runs in your browser.
The site is delivered through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure. Serving a page involves technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser details and request time. Hosting and security operators may process or retain this information to deliver and protect the service. Our no-collection statement is not a promise that their infrastructure creates no logs.
Those services may also use essential cookies or similar technologies. DZX STUDIO does not add marketing cookies. Your browser provides controls for cookies and website storage; blocking essential infrastructure features may affect access.
See the OpenAI Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Privacy Policy for their published practices. Where a provider processes information on our behalf, using that provider does not remove any responsibilities applicable to us.
Optional AI and third-party providers
AI is optional. When you run an AI action, the selected provider or runtime receives your request and the context included by that feature. This may include a project name, BASIC or Z80 source, diagnostics, instructions or graphics-related content. These requests do not pass through a DZX STUDIO-operated AI server.
- OpenAI, Anthropic and OpenRouter: requests go to the selected service. OpenRouter may route them to another model provider.
- Codex: the IDE uses an external local runtime, which may communicate with account-backed online services. A local runtime is not a guarantee of offline processing.
- Ollama and Unsloth-compatible services: the IDE connects to the configured local endpoint. Whether that service forwards information elsewhere depends on its configuration.
Third-party providers may collect, use or retain submitted content and technical information under their own policies, contracts and account settings. Retention, model-training use, processing locations and deletion controls vary. DZX STUDIO does not promise zero retention or no training by every provider.
Review the relevant information before use: OpenAI API data controls, OpenAI account privacy, Anthropic privacy information and OpenRouter privacy.
Check the source and context you include, and do not send secrets or information you are not authorised to share. Reviewing or rejecting an AI proposal controls changes to your project; it does not reverse the earlier transmission of the request.
Your choices, retention and deletion
You can use the core IDE without AI. You control your local projects, exports, credentials and any backup copies. Uninstalling the application does not necessarily delete files saved elsewhere, Keychain entries or external-runtime sessions.
Because we do not receive application user data, we do not keep a central copy of your projects or an application-user dataset to sell, share, export or delete. Deleting a local file or credential does not erase information already held by a provider.
For information held by an AI service, use that provider’s account controls and privacy-request process. Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction or objection, and a right to complain to a competent data-protection authority. Nothing in this policy limits those rights.
Publisher information and updates
For questions about DZX STUDIO, these terms or this privacy policy, contact netkomm@gmail.com. Publisher information is available at NelloCastellano.com, the developer website linked from the application.
If you voluntarily email us, we necessarily receive your email address, message and any attachments. We use that correspondence to handle your request, not to track application usage or add you to a marketing list. Keep personal information and attachments to what is needed for your question.
The contact mailbox uses Gmail, so Google’s Privacy Policy also applies to its handling of email. We keep correspondence only as needed to handle the request and meet applicable legal obligations. You may ask us about or request deletion of that correspondence at the same address, subject to those obligations.
We will update this policy if the product’s data flows change. Any new collection would need an appropriate disclosure and any consent required by applicable law before it begins. Reading this policy is not consent to optional tracking or to an AI request.
